When to visit Quinta do Lago. March through May is peak golf — courses are manicured, daytime highs 17–22°C, and the Ria Formosa trail is at its greenest. September and October is the second best window (warm seas ~21°C, the lagoon at its highest wildfowl count). Skip July–August if you can — summer months bring peak heat and busier tee times. December–February is the quieter winter season — easier bookings and additional outdoor activities.

Walk the Ria Formosa trail at sunrise (06:30–08:00 Oct to Mar) from the resort's eastern Ria Formosa trailhead toward the Quinta beach — the flamingo-return migration hits the lagoon at first light and the wooden-boardwalk section is the single uninterrupted stretch of wetlands you can do without a guide. For courses, book the South Course first (host of eight Portuguese Open editions) and tee off before 10 a.m. when the back-nine lagoon-side stretch is most open. Lunch at Casa do Lago on the resort's central lake (turn right at roundabout 6 — quintadolago.com dining) — the cataplana de robalo is the local benchmark.
